This is especially true during the holidays, when you want to have friends and family stay for long visits, but don't have a spare bedroom! In these situations, those of us who live in small homes always find ourselves very appreciative of our air mattress.

Air mattresses are wonderful for small homes as they can be used to turn any room into a guest bedroom, no matter if it is the sun porch or the living room. Because they are designed after real beds, air mattresses come in traditional sizes, from twin size to king size and can be made up with regular sheet and blanket sets. When they are in use, inflatable beds are just as comfortable as real beds - and when they aren't in use, they can be deflated, put in the box and stored in the closet.

Not only are blow-up mattresses ideal for providing sleeping arrangements for guests, but because they are portable, they can be used for all sorts of other things as well. When camping, they are much more comfortable for sleeping on than the hard ground and they can easily be used for children's backyard sleep-overs. And because they are so widely used, they can be found all over, from discount stores like Kmart, Costco, and Target, to outdoor stores like Sports Authority.

So if you don't already have an inflatable bed, but live in a small home, then it's high time you get one! The best way to buy an air mattress is of course to first decide what size and style you want and then decide how much you want to spend.

Be sure to read product reviews for some of the better brands like Coleman, Aerobed and Intex and from there spend some time shopping around for the best price. As someone who lives in a small space, I can tell you from experience that air mattresses are wonderful solutions for living small.
